I recently dropped in to meet with three recent arrivals on Chelmsford High Street. Gaia Jewellery is on the river near the Stone Bridge. Egemen, the owner, explained that his family have been running jewellers for over 30 years and he felt that Chelmsford was just the place for modern, elegant jewellery. He specialises in 14 carat gold, which doesn’t tarnish like lower carats but more affordable than 22 carat. The designs are stunning.
Zambrero is opposite Metrobank and makes the most scrummy burritos based on Mexican cooking. They are a newly formed business and have 10 locations across the country. For every burrito ordered they donate a meal to someone in need - over 78 million meals donated so far.
Flannels specialise in luxury designer fashion and have taken on the old Top Shop location at the entrance to High Chelmer. The staff were lovely and clearly passionate about the clothes they stick and their customers.
The economy is picking up and today’s growth numbers show the UK is outperforming all other major European countries - as well as the USA. It’s great to see new businesses putting their faith in Chelmsford.
Gaia and Zambrero have been shortlisted for the Chelmsford For You business awards. Do check out their Facebook page for all the other finalists. Good luck to them all for the rest of the competition.
