Over the past two years I have been contacted by a number of Chelmsford constituents with diabetes wanting to be able to use state of the art continuous glucose monitors “FreeStyle Libre Monitors”.
I have been supporting this campaign. The monitor means the patient’s glucose level is continuously monitored. It is suitable for patients who would otherwise have to do a blood test 10 or more times a day.
I was delighted to receive a letter from the Mid Essex CCG (clinically-led statutory NHS bodies responsible for the planning and commissioning of health care services for their local area) saying that these continuous glucose monitors will now be available for patients.
