Vicky has a reputation for being one of the most active Members of Parliament.

During her first two years in Parliament Vicky spoke in more debates in Westminster than almost any other MP.   She regularly raises issues on behalf of Chelmsford and for individual Chelmsford constituents and organisations.

In February 2020 Vicky was appointed as Minister for Children and Families in the Department for Education, with responsibilities for vulnerable children.

Prior to becoming a Minister, she was a member of the Parliament’s Science & Technology and Women & Equalities Select Committees. She previously served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development.

Vicky chaired a number of cross-party All Party Parliamentary Groups including those for: Women in Parliament and Infrastructure and was also the Chair of the Parliamentary Forum for Information and Communications Technology.
