Happy New Year! As I come to the end of my first six months as the Member of Parliament for Chelmsford I thought it would be helpful to give you a short update and to look ahead to what’s coming up this year.

My week - January 2018

Monday  Year in Westminster starts with a bang - reshuffle day and debate on new Customs and Trade bill. As a new MP I’m not expecting any promotion but good to talk on the customs debate, even if it was at 10pm! Lots of devil in the detail when it comes to trade - it’s so important.

Christmas message from Vicky Ford MP

The Parliamentary year ended with a flurry of activity in Westminster. The police minister announced new rules for funding, the health team introduced a new package of winter support for the NHS and the environment minister has been taking actions to protect the oceans.

Chelmsford MP publishes guide to help groups looking for grants for the Arts

Vicky Ford MP  has published a guide to the grants available for arts, heritage and broadcasting from the Department for Culture Media and Sport.   The guide gives a brief overview of the type of project each grant supports and the contact still of the organisers of each funding scheme. 

Independent Monitoring Board release report on Chelmsford Prison

Chelmsford Prison's Annual Report by the Independent Monitoring Board has been released today. The report states that the board’s major concerns for much of the year were inadequate staffing levels.
