The residents of Old Moulsham are planning a super family event to bring people together in loneliness awareness week.
This follows the very successful implementation of Neighbourhood Watch in the Old Moulsham area. ‘Project Connect’ is targeted at addressing loneliness and social isolation in the community. Loneliness and isolation are significant issues of great concern to public health due to the adverse impact on both physical and mental well-being. It is clear in Old Moulsham that there is a great appetite amongst residents to act to improve the situation and Project Connect currently has 82 virtual members via a Facebook group and around 15 members who meet face to face within a project team.
As part of Loneliness Awareness week, Project Connect has planned a Family Social, scheduled for the 21st June 2019, 2:00 – 4:30pm at Oaklands Park in Old Moulsham, Chelmsford. This is an informal event for young and old, families with young children are especially welcome.
Loneliness Awareness Week is an annual event developed by the Marmalade Trust and first held in 2017. The aim of the week is to raise awareness of loneliness and social isolation, highlighting the concern and encouraging communities to develop and run events to address the issue.
