Chelmsford is home to the largest cluster of insurance companies outside of London. Many people in Chelmsford work in the sector.
It was great to meet with representatives of a number of companies in Chelmsford. We discussed issues affecting the industry and their customers. It was also great to meet many apprentices working in the sector.
A recent poll by one of the insurers of their customers showed that cyber security is the biggest risk faced by companies today.
Many small and medium sized companies are not currently insured against cyber risks. I learnt that if small or medium sized companies take out cyber security insurance from a reputable provider this comes with a cyber “health check” and advice on actions to minimise the risk.
