New Bridge for the NE Bypass

Recently in Beaulieu, I meet the local head of Countryside to discuss infrastructure.  There is an incredibly exciting bit of construction taking place with a new bridge which will carry traffic over the rail line and dual carriageway and then onto what will become the new North East By-Pass.

This massive structure, an £18 million investment and made from British steel can be seen from the Eastern edge of Beaulieu on the fields, from the Boreham Interchange and also from the A12.  It will be welded together and assembled beside the rail track and is due to be moved into position in the autumn.  The NE bypass will ease congestion around Chelmsford.

I also discussed the new medical centre, I know how important this will be for all residents.  It is going to be a state of the art new building.  Tendering for the contract is taking place now, most of the modules are being made offsite and will then be assembled on the site starting in the autumn.

I met recently with the District Commander of our local police to discuss the work they are doing tackle drug dealing and county lines activity locally especially in and around the city centre.  This is a top priority for the police and they have made recent arrests.  Thank you to all those that provide intelligence to the police.  The police will always work to protect the confidentiality of those who give this intelligence, so do be assured that by sharing what you see, you are helping to protect others.

I am holding our third Apprenticeship Fair at Anglia Ruskin University on Friday 23rd September 2022.  Last year’s Fair was hugely successful. Hundreds of students came along to meet the many businesses and organisations from Engineering to Accountancy, Law, Health, Policing and the Armed Forces. Our young people need a hand up after the difficulties and challenges of the past two years. I know these Fairs make a real difference and all are welcome.

And finally, for July, I committed to go plastic free for the month. By making a small change as we go about our daily life, we can help to reduce single-use plastic waste at home, work, school.

A week in the life of Vicky Ford MP

Friday, 24 March, 2023

In Westminster this week I have been involved in debates on three different Statutory Instruments.   Acts of Parliament which set out our laws, often delegate to ministers the powers to make decisions on detailed areas of policy via follow up in Statutory Instruments (SIs).
