The news on Monday 11th April that a man has been convicted of the brutal murder of Sir David Amess MP has brought back memories of that awful day. Sir David was a kind and generous person who loved helping his constituents.
As the MP for Chelmsford I also always try to help my constituents. Many of you email me but sometimes it’s important to have a face to face chat especially if it’s about a complex issue.
I want to reassure you that I have taken advice to make sure that surgeries follow safety procedures. We never advertise surgery times, and appointments need to be pre-booked in advance. There is a security professional present who does a bag check. This is to make sure that anyone who needs my help feels safe when coming to talk.
