Chelmsford Train Station

Trains update. I have received an update from Greater Anglia who have told me the following.

From Monday 14 February two morning peak trains from Chelmsford (the 07.36 and the 08.14) were increased from 8 to 12 carriages. In addition, from Monday 21 February, an additional 07.54 Chelmsford to London service (with 8 carriages), starting from Chelmsford was introduced.

Unfortunately Storms Eunice and Franklin did cause disruption between 18 and 21 February and some of our trains were damaged - either by falling trees, debris being blown about or damaged overhead lines - due to the extreme weather conditions.

That problem did have a knock-on effect on the number of carriages provided on some services over the following couple of days as they worked to repair the damage. I am told we should now be past the main impacts of that extra challenge.

Please do use all the carriages on the train - sometimes there is more space in the first and last carriages.

I continue to press Greater Anglia for more trains and carriages.

Thank you to all the train users who have been keeping me updated on issues with the service whilst I have been travelling on Foreign Office business this week.

Please do email me if you have particular issues Vicky.ford.mp@parliament.uk

Better Infrastructure

Chelmsford is a new City and is growing rapidly.   We have outstanding schools, homes, shops and much going on.  We need world class infrastructure to match this.  As a former infrastructure financier, I am committed to campaigning for better infrastructure for Chelmsford.

A week in the life of Vicky Ford MP

Friday, 24 March, 2023

In Westminster this week I have been involved in debates on three different Statutory Instruments.   Acts of Parliament which set out our laws, often delegate to ministers the powers to make decisions on detailed areas of policy via follow up in Statutory Instruments (SIs).
